Come one, come all to the Big Stage at the James Ballentine Uptown VFW (Post 246) for an unforgettable karaoke contest! Sing like a rock star on our Big Stage and show your talent! This event will be judged by audience members through a voting app. In other words, the more friends you bring, the better your chances of winning. Make sure to invite family, friends, co-workers and everyone you know to cheer you on!
To enter, singers must submit a $20 registration fee (all fees will be allocated toward prize money), and two songs from the host’s tracks at Songbooks Online, Show Code ASN 140. Entries must be received no later than Wednesday, May 15th, 2024. Send all entries to Midwest Karaoke (midwestkaraoke@gmail.com). A maximum of 25 entries will be accepted, so make sure to sign up early!
The contest will have two rounds, each judged by audience approval via an online voting app (6 votes per audience member). The first round will feature all 25 contestants, with the top six singers moving on to the final round. In the final round, each of the remaining singers will perform their second song. Assuming we have 25 singers, a $500 prize pool will be split among the top three singers in the following manner: 1st place will receive $250, 2nd place will receive $175 and 3rd place will receive $75. If we have less than 25 singers, the prize money will be prorated accordingly.
So warm up those vocal cords and get ready to showcase your talent on the Big Stage at the James Ballentine Uptown VFW (Post 246). This is your chance to become a Karaoke Superstar and take home the grand prize.
Contest Rules:
- The contest will be held on Sunday, May 19th, 2024 beginning at 3pm. The venue is the James Ballentine VFW (Post 246) at 2916 Lyndale Avenue S, Minneapolis, MN 55408. The contest will be held in the large hall on the “Big Stage”.
- All contestants must be at least 21 years of age.
- Contestants must not be professional singers, nor be under recording contract.
- Duets are permitted.
- Contestants will select from the Karaoke Host’s existing catalog available at Songbooks
Online (www.songbooksonline.com) Show Code ASN140. - Each contestant must register and send their track selections no later than May 12th, 2024.
Registration will end after 25 applicants have signed up. - Song selections should be emailed to midwestkaraoke@gmail.com no later than May 12th,
2024. - There is a $20.00 non-refundable registration fee, due upon registration. Registration fee can
be sent by Venmo to: @Steve-Sutherland-13 - The order of performances will be determined by a random draw on the day of the contest.
- Each contestant will perform one song in the first round and will be judged by audience
approval via an online voting app. Each voting audience member will be able to cast 6 votes. - After the first round, there will be a 30-minute break.
- The top six singers will be selected from the first round based on the results of audience
approval through a voting app. - Contestants may sing either of their song choices in either round but cannot sing the same
song twice. - Each performance in the final round will be judged by audience approval via an online voting
app. Each voting audience member will be able to cast 6 votes. - A $500 prize pool will be distributed among the top three singers in the following manner: 1st
place receives $250; 2nd place receives $175; 3rd place receives $75. These amounts assume
25 singers entered. - In case of a tie, the contestants with the tied scores will perform one more song each, and
the winner will be determined by audience approval via an online voting app, as above. - Any behavior that disrupts the contest, such as heckling or booing, may result in disqualification or removal from the venue. The venue reserves the right to disqualify any contestant or remove any audience member who fails to comply with the rules or exhibits unsportsmanlike conduct.
